# Upgrades & Downgrades

> Change your plan, add resources, or scale down as your needs evolve.

CrazyNode services are elastic — upgrade or downgrade at any time to match your workload.

## Requesting an upgrade

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the service">
    Client area → **Services → My Services** → click the service.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Upgrade / Downgrade">
    You'll see a list of available plans and add-ons.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the new plan or add-on">
    RAM, CPU, disk, bandwidth, or move to a higher tier.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the prorated invoice">
    You're only charged the difference for the remaining billing cycle.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pay and apply">
    Once paid, the upgrade is applied automatically (VPS/game hosting may require a reboot).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How proration works

If you're 15 days into a 30-day billing cycle and upgrade to a plan that costs ₹1,000 more per month:

* Prorated charge: ₹500 (half the month remaining)
* Next full cycle bills at the new higher rate

Downgrades issue account credit for the unused portion of the higher plan, applied to future invoices.

## What happens to my data?

* **VPS upgrades** are usually done in-place with a brief reboot.
* **Game hosting upgrades** apply on next server restart.
* **Web hosting upgrades** apply instantly with no downtime.
* Downgrades may reduce disk space — confirm your usage fits the smaller plan first.

<Warning>
  If your VPS disk is 80% full, don't downgrade to a plan with less disk than currently used — you'll experience data loss. Free up space first or open a ticket.
</Warning>

## Add-ons

Beyond full plan changes, you can add specific resources:

* Extra RAM / CPU cores
* Additional disk space
* Dedicated IPv4 addresses
* Automated backup slots
* DDoS protection tiers (Layer 7)

Add-ons are available in the service management page under **Upgrade / Downgrade**.
